Book review: Goats in the Time of Love

Reading Goats in the Time of Love by T. Elizabeth Bell while on Martha’s Vineyard was a dream, to say the least. It was especially lovely being sucked into this sweet story while lounging on the blustery sands of Lambert’s Cove beach and the cozy porch of the Summercamp Hotel overlooking Oak Bluffs harbor (their rockers are a 10/10 reading spot if I do say so myself).

If you’re a Vineyard-goer, this little story is a must-read. It’s a classic plot of a summer person (Sky) falling in love with an Islander (Nate) and the adorable Vineyard-themed love story that follows.

It isn’t too cliché, though, because this story involves GOATS! I’ll leave that for you to figure out when you read it (hehe).

In all, this was a super sweet story from a local Vineyard author. It gave me all the familiar pangs of wanting to move to the Vineyard and create a life in one of the relaxed, wooded, salty up-island towns. One day (fingers crossed)!! In the meantime, I can always revisit this heartwarming tale that features many of my favorite parts of Martha’s Vineyard, with a cute love story to boot. The perfect beach read!

Have you visited the island before?

xx, Lauren
