Book review: The Alice Network

I won’t lie… The Alice Network by Kate Quinn has been sitting on my TBR list for over a year now. However, this just means it was extra exciting when I snagged it at a library sale on my last day on the Cape for a mere dollar! Despite plenty of midterms and big assignments this past week, I was able to squeeze in a little reading each day (part of my new journey of learning how to relax) and finished this one off in a week.

I really liked this book. It satisfied my itch for a new historical fiction story to delve into, my favorite genre. World War II is already my favorite era for historical fiction, and I haven’t read about a spy yet! Much less, a female spy. Eve Gardiner is the kind of powerful female character we should have learned about in APUSH… just saying.

I thoroughly enjoyed Quinn’s style of storytelling- it wasn’t just a normal multiple-points-of-view novel. The storyline ran seamlessly between 1947 and 1917 without missing a beat each chapter. The crossover of the two female main characters’ lives was fascinating and so satisfying to uncover.

If you like historical fiction, this one is a must-read!

xx, Lauren
