If you are looking for a short and sweet festive holiday read this season, look no further. We Met in December by Rosie Curtis was exactly what I needed to get into the Christmas spirit, something that has been very hard for me to do this year. The story is a kindred spirit with One Day in December by Josie Curtis and One Day by David Nicholls in the sense that it builds a slow-burn love story over the course of one year.
Though similar to those two titles, We Met in December had its own wholesome spunk, and I thoroughly enjoyed the picture it painted of London during Christmastime. The protagonist, Jess, and her love interest, Alex, are overwhelmingly likable, though I got frustrated with them several times throughout the story (as it should be with a good rom-com).
Jess is relatable and un-cool in a cool way, which coincidentally is how I like to think of myself. I especially valued reading about the relationship between her and her grandmother, Nanna Beth, as I recently lost one of my grandmothers.
Definitely pick this book up this holiday season, and don’t forget to pair it with a Christmas candle and a hot cocoa!!
