A couple weekends ago I had the pleasure of visiting Provincetown. For those unfamiliar with Cape Cod, Provincetown is the very tip of the Cape. It is home to gorgeous beaches, stunning views, and is known for being a haven for the LGBTQ+ community. The town itself is overflowing with joy- Pride flags fly from almost every home and business along Commercial Ave- Provincetown’s main street. Signs in the windows reassure passerby that they are welcome there, their lives matter, and that allies surround them. The joy and love that the Provincetown community fosters is unbeatable- I couldn’t get enough.
Provincetown is also known for its art scene. Galleries line the streets and beautiful pieces are displayed in windows and lawns. Even just walking through the streets was worth the hour-long trip from Brewster.
Don’t even get me started on the homes in Provincetown- they are the epitome of Cape Cod charm with their own quirky twist. Flowers are blooming everywhere, picket fences are just crooked enough, and doors are painted bright yellows and blues. Walkways and porches are creatively reimagined and Little Free Libraries make for lovely pops of color along the sidewalks. And the ocean views! Most homes on Commercial Ave have an ocean overlook, and most side streets are just a quick stroll from the water. Bikes are strewn all over to add to the easy-going feel of the town. Even after just two hours of exploring, I saw countless neighborly interactions- it seemed like everyone in Provincetown knows and cares about each other.
I spent a large chunk of my day sunbathing at Race Point- one of Provincetown’s two big beaches. Although I didn’t spend very long in the water (there were too many seals for my taste), the views were top-notch. It was overall such a relaxing afternoon.
If you can’t tell from my gushing, I absolutely loved Provincetown and all its culture and radiating love.
Have you ever visited?
xx, Lauren
